My Story
Machapala Group - Chairman
George Nkya is the Founder & Chairman of Machapala Group of Companies and serves as Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Morocco in Uganda. He is an experienced East African entrepreneur and strategic business leader with expertise in ICT and energy. Over the past decade, he has built and scaled innovative ventures across telecommunications, energy, agribusiness, defense technologies, transport, and real estate throughout East Africa.
George Nkya started his career in telecom infrastructure, quickly advancing through technical and managerial roles. At 24, he founded Samanga Solutions, which grew into a regional leader in telecommunications, smart infrastructure, and defense systems. In 2023, he consolidated his businesses under Machapala Group to integrate operations, attract global partnerships, and expand impact.

Strategic Business Transformation
Led a visionary restructuring of Samanga Solutions, giving rise to Samanga Utilities—now a dominant regional player in ICT, Transport, Water, and Energy. Under this transformation, the group achieved operational efficiency, unified its business divisions under a shared sustainability framework, and strengthened corporate governance.
Additionally, founded Samanga Defense Solutions (SDS), East Africa’s trailblazer in secure technology systems, providing advanced digital and defense communication infrastructure for critical sectors.
Sustainable Energy Leadership
Spearheaded the design and execution of a 20 MW solar power plant in Nwoya District through Machame Energy, supplying clean energy to rural communities and major industrial users. This project has become a benchmark for renewable development, contributing significantly to Uganda’s national electrification agenda.
The initiative not only powers thousands of homes but also demonstrates an enduring commitment to environmental stewardship, technological advancement, and regional energy independence.
Agro-Industrial Expansion
Established Machame Farms and Machame Industries to strengthen agricultural value chains and enhance local manufacturing. Through these ventures, the company has introduced gluten-free pasta, refined edible oils, and pasteurized poultry products to the regional market.
These enterprises not only promote food security but also empower local farmers through contract farming, technology transfer, and training initiatives—transforming agriculture into a sustainable and profitable industry.
Urban Development Initiatives
As the visionary behind Abja Estates and Abja Parks, led the planning and development of sustainable urban communities within the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area. These initiatives address the city’s housing deficit while incorporating eco-friendly materials and smart-space planning.
The projects not only enhance living standards but also redefine urban growth through innovative design, green spaces, and modern recreation facilities—building cities for the next generation.
International Business Expansion
Founded Machapala España SA to establish a strategic European presence—bridging East Africa and Europe through bilateral trade, joint ventures, and industrial collaboration.
This initiative facilitates technology transfer, investment partnerships, and sustainable export networks, positioning the group as a global catalyst for cross-continental growth and innovation.

George is a graduate of Makerere University and an active Rotarian, committed to community service and ethical leadership.
